An interactive AI experience inspired by the ideas and philosophy of Steve Jobs

Concept

 

Steve Jobs remains one of the most influential figures in modern technology, but most exhibits can only tell visitors about him.

 

This installation was designed to create a more engaging alternative.

 

Using a curated collection of interviews, keynote presentations, speeches, and writings, visitors can ask questions and receive responses inspired by Steve Jobs’ documented ideas and perspectives.

 

The installation is intentionally positioned adjacent to the Apple Park section of the exhibit, giving visitors a natural opportunity to continue the conversation. After learning about Apple’s vision for the future, they can immediately engage with the ideas that helped shape it.

 

Rather than presenting another static display, the goal was to create an experience that encourages curiosity, conversation, and exploration.

Experience

 

Visitors approach a life-sized digital representation of Steve Jobs and are invited to ask a question.

 

The character listens, responds, and speaks back in real time using a voice modeled after Steve Jobs. Questions often range from Apple products and design decisions to leadership, creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

 

Because the installation sits alongside the Apple Park display, many conversations begin there. Visitors frequently ask about Apple’s future, company philosophy, or the decisions that shaped some of its most iconic products.

 

The visual design of the character was carefully developed to strike a balance between recognition and interpretation. Rather than attempting a photorealistic recreation, the character uses a stylized digital aesthetic that reinforces the idea that visitors are interacting with an AI-powered representation built from historical source material.

 

Facial expressions, voice, and animation work together to create a conversational experience that feels approachable and engaging while remaining transparent about the technology behind it.

The installation combines conversational AI, speech recognition, voice synthesis, and real-time facial animation into a single interactive experience.

The system runs locally and generates responses in real time, creating a fluid conversational experience. Voice, expression, and animation are synchronized dynamically to produce natural responses while maintaining historical context through curated source material. 

 

DKS Design led the concept development, character direction, interaction design, content strategy, user experience, and overall integration of the installation, working with development partners to create an experience that felt engaging, educational, and technologically approachable.
